About Reed Fire Protection Engineering

Reed Fire Protection Engineering, L.L.C. (RFPE) was founded in April of 1995 in Dallas, Texas. The firm’s founder and president is Mr. Albert W. Reed P.E. a graduate of Texas A&M, has over thirty years of experience in the fire protection industry including work with clients, contractors and consulting engineering firms.  Mr. Reed is a Texas licensed fire protection engineer  with fire protection engineering licenses in 8 other states. Other key employees include Mr. Darren Roberts, a Texas licensed alarm planning superintendent and security consultant who has eighteen years of experience in the fire protection industry and Mr. John Wurts, a NICET Level III licensed fire suppression system designer and project manager. RFPE staff has over 80 years of cumulative fire protection expertise.  The staff has experience in all phases of fire protection engineering, including design, analysis, testing and construction period services.

The firm provides fire protection services which are based on the specific needs of the clients.  Our personal experience with a variety of clients, we have learned to identify client needs and service those needs in a timely and professional manner.  We are able to provide our clients with the most cost effective, functional, fire protection engineering services.

RFPE has worked on a wide range of projects, studies, and tests.  These include projects in fields such as large assembly areas, government, education, health care, historical, residential, commercial, warehouses and renovation/retrofit projects. Our Staff has experience in Fire protection and Life Safety design that are familiar with the use and application of NFPA codes 80 and 101 and UFC 3-600-01, Design: Fire Protection Engineering for Facilities (and the older rescinded Military Handbook 1008C)."

RFPE has previous experience with a variety of projects, including retrofits of fire protection systems for existing buildings.  We are aware of the unique issues associated with retrofits of existing structures.  The ability to integrate the difficult combination of a working and aesthetically pleasing fire protection system makes RFPE’s experience with these types of buildings an advantage.

COMPUTER AIDS

Our firm uses software packages such as Microsoft Office Professional Suite, AutoCAD, HydroCad, Corel Perfect Office ( Suite 9 ), including Word Perfect, Quattro Pro spreadsheet, Presentations slide shows and Envoy computer slides. These programs allow state of the art word processing capabilities. SureTrak Project Manager, T1- Internet Access and writable CD Rom equipment allow easy transfer of electronic data.
